Meet Sandy - 93yo - A Journey To Confidence

Thinking About Aged Care? Good Thought!

Meet Audrey - 97yo - Mt Terry Trailblazers

This Is Sandy. He Was Initially Reluctant To Participate In Physiotherapy Due To A Combination Of Fear Of Falling And A View That He Couldn't Improve. After A Few Weeks Of Deliberation He Finally Agreed To "Give It A Try". Sandy's Goal Is To One Day Be Able To Walk The Hallways Of His Home Without Using His Walker. We Primarily Focus On Improving Strength, Power, Static And Dynamic Balance, Improving Movement Volumes, Dual Tasking And Multi-Directional Stepping. Prior To Commencing Physiotherapy Sandy Would Only Let Go Of His Walker If He Had Something To Hold Onto. Needless To Say, He’s Overcome That!
Here's A Short Video Featuring Our Managing Director & Physiotherapist - Simon Kerrigan Discussing Why He Likes Working In Aged Care. Simon's A Leading Aged Services Australia Next Gen Ambassador For NSW. The Next Gen Committee Is All About Promoting Aged Services And Encouraging Young Professionals To Work In Aged Care.

So As Part Of Our Christmas Party, We All Got Dressed In Our Festive Hawaiian Shirts And Went And Delivered More Than 200 Gifts To Some Of Our Residents In Aged Care Centres And Community Villages In Wollongong. This Is A New Tradition That We Can't Wait To Make Bigger And Better Every Year. One Of Our Residents Told Us "This Was Just Lovely. It's Made Me Feel Less Lonely, Made Me Feel At Home" - What An Amazing Thing To Achieve!

A Little Mobility And Balance

This Is How We Play Balloon Tennis

The Boys Showing Us How It’s Done

We May Have Been Short On Space, But We Weren't Short On Enthusiasm. Here's One Of The First Circuit Classes Run By Guide Healthcare At One Of Our New Partner Homes. Our Ladies Were A Little Tired From A Strength Circuit A Couple Of Days Earlier, So We Thought We'd Take Things A Little Easier And Do A Variety Of Mobility And Balance Drills. Needless To Say, Our Brilliant Residents Didn't Disappoint.
Our Older Adults Shouldn't Walk Into An Exercise Class To Sit Down In A Chair. At Guide Healthcare, If We Play Balloon Games, We Get Our Participants Up Onto Their Feet. There's Always A "Safe" Way To Coordinate These Games Without Forcing People To Sit Down! Watch As Our Residents Challenge Their Balance, Shift Weight, Take Reactionary Steps, Rotate Their Trunk And Lower Limbs, Coordinate Upper Body And Lower Body Movements And Challenge Their Vestibular System As They Compete In An Epic 5 Setter Of Standing Balloon Tennis.
A 5 Station Circuit Class For A Group Of Men At One Of Our New Partner Homes. At Guide Healthcare We Really Focus On Strength And Mobility. So Today, Our Gents Tackle The Battle Ropes, 5kg Medicine Ball Throw Downs, A Multi-Height Blaze Pod Reaching Task And Step-Ups. We Also Threw In Some Boxing (Not On Camera). Not A Bad Start For A Group Of Men Who's Ages Range From 78 To 92.

We Absolutely Love Working With Pat And Are So Proud Of What She's Achieved In Such A Short Time.
Guide Healthcare’s “Blaze Battle 2019” Event Launched In November. Residents Completed 8 Weeks Of Training To Improve Mobility, Balance, Agility, Speed And Power. It All Culminated In 2 Days Of Fierce Competition Between 5 Homes And More Than 60 Residents. The Above Video Is Of Our “Bundanoon Bravehearts” Completing One Of Their Training Sessions.
It Was A Beautiful Day In Rural NSW So We Thought We'd Move Our Ladies Exercise Group Outside. They Completed Stair Climbs, Grassy Hill Walks, Sit To Stands And Smooth Slope Climbs. At Guide Healthcare, We Try To Complete These Types Of Exercise Sessions To Assist Our Residents To Remain Community Ambulant. And We Couldn’t Have Asked For A Better Day To Get Our Residents Outside Working Hard And Feeling Great!
