The event that makes ANYTHING seem possible!
It was once said that “completing a marathon is a state of mind that says anything is possible”. We don’t know who said it, but we certainly thinks it’s true. This March, we want aged care residents to share this belief.
Completing a marathon is one of those iconic “bucket list” items. And there’s no more iconic marathon than the one held in London every April. A 42km journey through the historic streets of England’s capital, over the tower bridge, along the Thames, with views of Big Ben and Buckingham Palace. It’s a journey of dedication, endurance and wonder.
Are you looking for ways to inspire your residents, loved ones, family or older friends to move more? Have you been looking for ways to build purpose and fun into your physical activity programs?
The London Marathon is a walking-based event, designed to increase each participant's step count. Improved walking has been shown to decrease falls risk and improve community access. Increasing physical activity also had a range of other health benefits, such as improved cardiovascular function, better mental health, improved joint health, prevention of some chronic diseases and even protection against cognitive decline.

How to Take Part

We’d love to see your team take part in the challenge. We also create short videos to share during the live event where competitors get to see themselves take part int the challenge.
Please upload your photos/videos on the link below. By uploading content, you agree for Guide Healthcare to share these via their social media platforms and include them in the content shared during the live event.
Please create a folder within the Google Drive with the name of your team, or simply rename the files with your team name.
